What is a EULA? |
A EULA (End User License Agreement) describes the terms of the agreement between Xinuos and it's customers for the use of Xinuos software. |
What is a COLA? |
COLA (Certificate of License Authority) describes the specific "extent of use" that is applicable to the purchase of an individual license from Xinuos (for example a COLA might represent a license for 10 additional users) |
How is a user defined? |
"User" is a person accessing the Software via a local or remote interactive device, such as a terminal or workstation, except where such use is exclusive to routing or gateway functions of the Software. Generally, functions that require user "state" to be held on the server require a user license. |
What Licenses do I need to run OpenServer 5 in a virtual environment? |
All Xinuos Licenses are for a single instance of the software. Using the same license for more than one instance is not authorized. Thus in a virtual environment you will need a license for each instance of the operating system or other Xinuos software you run. The same rule applies to users, CPUs or any other Xinuos add-on license. |
Do I need a license for a standby system? |
Xinuos's license terms allows the usage of an "archive copy" of the software for standby purposes only if the standby system is not powered concurrently with the primary system. |
What about SQL based connections? |
A "User" (see above) that is connected using some form of front end in conjunction with a back-end database requires a user license for the duration of their connection, since there is state maintained on the server on their behalf. Multiple "users" using a single login each require a license, but a single "User" running multiple concurrent connections only requires a single license. |
