Java Technologies on SCO Systems

Java^TM 2 Standard Edition v. 1.3.1_04, 1.3.1_06, 1.3.1_08, and 1.3.1_10 for SCO UNIX Operating Systems

The Java^TM 2 Standard Edition (J2SE) for SCO UNIX Operating Systems is a powerful runtime deployment environment and software development kit that is portable, object-oriented, platform independent, and especially well suited for developing Internet-, web-, and web services-enabled applications. The J2SE includes the Java compiler, interpreter, just-in-time compiler, classes, and documentation, and is licensed to all UnixWare 7 (including Open UNIX 8) and SCO OpenServer Release 5 licensees.

J2SE 1.3.1_04 for SCO UNIX is a full implementation of the Sun Microsystems^TM Java 2 Platform - the technology and environment described in the Sun^TM specifications of the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition, v. 1.3.1. It is the J2SE implementation available in the media kits for UnixWare 7 Release 7.1.3 and SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.7.

Subsequently, J2SE 1.3.1 for SCO UNIX was updated to the 1.3.1_06 patch level, to include several security fixes from Sun. This is the release that the BEA WebLogic for UnixWare 7 product is certified for. This release is only available on the SCO web download site. Then, J2SE 1.3.1 for SCO UNIX was updated to the 1.3.1_08 patch level, to include additional fixes from Sun and SCO, and to include Java Plug-in support for Mozilla browsers. This release is only available on the SCO web download site and in SCOx media kits. Most recently, J2SE 1.3.1 for SCO UNIX was updated to the 1.3.1_10 patch level, to include new security fixes from Sun, as well as updated Class 2 and Class 3 Verisign CA certificates. This release is only available on the SCO web download site and in UnixWare 7 Release 7.1.3 Update Pack 4.
